"My role at Artez is to assist in developing new products and business partnerships that help our clients do more, raise more and manage better".

Ian first met the Artez team in 2002 when he was heading up John Manley's e-campaign for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada. He commissioned Artez to develop one of the world's first online political fundraising systems and subsequently acted as an advisor to the company until he joined Artez as Vice President in 2008.

Ian's interest in the online world started in 1978, when he saw a demonstration of Telidon http://www.ieee.ca/millennium/telidon/telidon_fingertips.html at Canada's Department of Communications. He then went onto found Hemton Corporation, Canada's first digital marketing agency and the company produced content for many of the first online trials in Canada, the US and the UK. The early experiments failed but Ian's belief that online communication would change the world remained.

In 1996, Ian co-founded AOL Canada Inc. He was responsible for marketing, public relations, public policy development, regulatory affairs and community outreach programs.

Ian is a past Director of the Canadian Marketing Association and the Canadian Association of Internet Providers (CAIP). He was on the organizing committee of The We're Funny That Way Foundation http://www.werefunnythatway.org/. He also received an award from Special Olympics Canada for donating the services and facilities to create the first Special Olympics Canada web site in 1995 and was the coach of the Toronto Special Olympics floor hockey championship team. He currently serves on the Fundraising Committee of the Alzheimer Society of Lanark County.
