We can't wait to experiment with Facebook's latest tool for page admins: Facebook Offers!

You already know that Facebook page administrators have access to paid advertising options your organization can use to drive donations, purchases, event registrations and traffic to your charity's website. Many charitable campaigns include Facebook ads as a marketing and fundraising strategy.

The latest advertising option for Facebook page admins is an interesting one... And it's free!

Facebook Offers allow you to promote an "Offer" directly to your followers in their news feeds. An Offer could be a discount, a promotional code or special access to something. When an Offer is redeemed on Facebook, it can be received by email or by mobile device. When your supporter takes advantage of your Offer, they also have the option to share it with their friends, spreading the word about your promotion.

The Offers concept certainly makes sense for a business or a corporation, but how could a charity or non-profit organization leverage this tool?

Here's some suggestions:

Events & Challenges:  Are you holding an event with a registration fee? Try using Offers to allow your supporters on Facebook to register first or for a discount.

Merchandise Promotion: Do you sell merchandise like t-shirts, jewelry or cards on your charity's website? Use Facebook Offers to promote your products at popular times like Mother's Day or the holidays.

Corporate Social Responsibility: Do you have a corporate partner or sponsor?  Work together and plan a special deal (like a two-for-one!) that can be made available to supporters of your cause who have "liked" your page.

Ticketed Experiences: Planning a gala, golf tournament, concert or other ticketed charity event? Your attendees can redeem your Offer on Facebook and then later show their Offer at the door for entry.

Facebook Offers have been rolled out in the US and are soon to be available globally. Some Canadian or Australian page administrators may not see the "offers" option yet. To request that Facebook add Offers to your page, use this link on Facebook!

Update

We now have some extra information about Facebook Offers, courtesy Jon Loomer.

Some of it is pretty exciting! New features include the option to set up your offers for in-store or in-person use only, online use only, or both, add a redemption code, and create a bar code to scan and verify the offer. Plus, Facebook has now made Offers available to all pages with more than 400 Likes.

The downside is that Facebook is now only offering Offers free for one usage, and after that there will be a fee. Still, you can choose the fee you're willing to pay (with a $5 minimum), based on how large of an audience you want to reach in promoting your offer.

Facebook has begun rolling out Offers, and you should soon get the chance to try it out for yourself!
