LinkedIn has announced a new feature, "Board Connect," directed at nonprofits. We've explored how this new opportunity might impact you!

TwitterBG_LinkedIn_Icon.jpgOn Monday, LinkedIn - the world's biggest professional network website - announced some exciting new functionality specifically for nonprofits!

With "Board Connect," LinkedIn is offering excellent recruitment tools for nonprofits, focused on finding the right fits to enhance their boards. With LinkedIn's gigantic user-base, nonprofits can find the exact type of talent they need to enhance their organization, whether it's a strategic mastermind, a programming wizard, or anything in between. Once finding the right set of individuals, LinkedIn allows you to contact them directly and begin creating a relationship that hopefully leads to great results for all involved.

LinkedIn hopes to let your nonprofit form a board as happy as this one!

In an interview with Forbes.com, Meg Garlinghouse, LinkedIn's Head of Social Impact, says that Board Connect should serve a major need for nonprofits - and for those interested in working with them:

"It is estimated that nearly 2mm board seats need to be filled annually.  Likewise, there is an equal demand from professionals to serve on boards.  For example, surveys indicate that 87% of marketing professionals and 92% of HR professionals would like to serve on a board.  We are hopeful that LinkedIn can enable these connections to happen more efficiently and effectively."

Of course, this benefit goes beyond finding board members. The same tools will allow nonprofits to find potential funders, volunteers and an employee or contractor with the exact skill you're seeking.

As part of Board Connect, LinkedIn will also be offering some other great resources for nonprofits, including webinars and other exclusive content.
