Over ten years ago when we first started out in the world of digital philanthropy, we noted how difficult it is for Canadian organizations to access specific information about the charitable sector. Most published metrics were American - where does Canada fit into the scene?
Things have definitely changed for the better, with far more information about the Canadian nonprofit community available thanks to groups like @imaginecanada , @charityvillage and so many others. However, in this excellent list: 130 Foundations That Tweet we noticed only two Canadian grant-making foundations made the list.
We were inspired to round-up the Canadian groups we're following on Twitter and share the 100+ Canadian Nonprofits That Tweet. We're including foundations, non-profits and charities, under the definitions set for voluntary organizations in Canada.
