Sana's Internship Experience
An Intro…
I first heard about Artez in 2008 after being inspired by one of my Management professors. James Appleyard is the CEO of Artez Interactive as well as one of the most loved professors of a university campus.
Now you're wondering: What does Artez do? Artez Interactive is one of the biggest Toronto-based supermen of charities! Sounds awesome? Yes it is! Artez helps raise funds through Friendship Powered Fundraising for charities in Canada, USA, Australia & Europe. They've been at it for over 10 years and they're only getting better.
Why am I telling you this?
Well it's really only to make me look like a good intern. JUST KIDDING!
I'm writing this because I truly want to share my experience with you and tell you how much I learnt from being at Artez. In my four month stint as a Marketing Intern, I learnt about the dedication it takes to make fundraising a reality. I worked on webinars, e-blasts, website management and Search Engine Optimization.
I was fortunate to work in an open-space office design and share in the company of fellow interns. I also had an extremely supportive team of supervisors to learn from and honestly guys, there should have been some assertion of authority. I JOKE again!
In fact, their openness gave me the ability to express myself and share my ideas with complete honesty. To this effect, I was even given the opportunity to write blogs for Artez and that's exactly what brought me to share my experience here.
If you're a young, enterprising individual (like myself…okay, I'll stop tooting my own horn!) that really wants to be involved with a charitable organization and gain some valuable non-profit experience in virtually any field, you need to start knocking on Artez's door. Actually…they have a bell. This opportunity is for you to grasp and I would recommend seizing it with enthusiasm and a CAN-DO attitude!
Outside of my internship…
I LOVE DOGS! I don't have one. But that's just temporary. I've been working on my loved ones and I'll be expecting a puppy in a basket by my next birthday. Maybe a little hopeful? Well I can't possibly wait till next year!
I also love to travel and I intend to see all of Quebec. I went to Quebec City last year for too short a time. This summer, I'll be inhaling all the French baguette, cheese and music I can get with my French beau.
Where is Life taking me?
I graduate from the University of Toronto this spring and I'm going to take a year off from studying to do some self-discovery. I want to work at a job that challenges me and enjoy the company of my friends. I intend on getting an MBA soon after and will be exploring all further options in this line of work once that MBA is in my arsenal!
Daniel's Internship Experience
An Intro…
Entering my last year of university, I realized the importance of an internship. It's an excellent way to get leads into the working world, to gain experience and acquire powerful personal references. When I learnt about the internship course offered at the University of Toronto Mississauga, I jumped at the opportunity and haven't looked back since.
My experience!
I loved the open-space environment at Artez!
It was great to work with my supervisors here at Artez. They supported me with all my projects and encouraged me to be creative. I was presented with challenging tasks that helped me grow as an individual and I now use so many of these lessons in my daily life. For example, I've gotten so good with HTML that I now know how to create quick-access buttons right on my desktop that will take me straight to the website I want to be at!
Overall, I'm very grateful for this wonderful opportunity that has taught me so many exciting things about the online fundraising world!
If you're interested in learning more about the inside-workings of a company that specializes in growing causes and helping the underprivileged, Artez is your "go-to man"! They have an excellent internship program and will be happy to have you there.
Outside of My Internship
I try to stay healthy by playing basketball and any sport that ends in 'ball' pretty much! I'm regularly involved in church-related activities and I randomly break into song when I'm really happy. I'm a borderline video-game addict, love hanging out with my friends and eating Pho!
Where is Life taking me?
I'm very excited to go to the Philippines where I'm going to specialize in Ministerial Studies. My goal is to one day become a Minister myself. I'm looking forward to the intense heat and humidity (it's 38 degrees Celsius there right now and it's only Spring!) I also hope to have a family and a loving wife one day.
This spring, we're delighted to welcome two new interns - Aiko and Marzena.
There are various internship opportunities open at Artez; for more information please visit our career section or contact hr@artez.com
