Leukaemia Foundation Australia
Leukaemia Foundation Australia
In 1975, Dr. Trevor Olsen formed the Leukaemia Foundation (LFA) in the state of Queensland to help ease the suffering of all those involved when a loved one has leukaemia. Now the Leukaemia Foundation provides world-class patient support services in every state and territory across Australia. The foundation invests millions into vital research as well as developing better treatments and cures. They are the only national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the care and cure of patients and families living with all leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.

Artez provided a functional, efficient and effective platform to manage the large scale event in one place with setting controls including team registration, scoreboards, registration dates and custom e-mails. Being PCI Level 1 compliant, Artez made credit card transactions convenient and secure. The LFA also created a friendly interface for donors to register and set up customizable personal pages for facilitation to their peer networks. Lastly, some of the customization tools available included message boards and fund tracking thermometers.
Overall, the total amount of funds raised exceeded forecasts and 80% of the money raised came in through the Light the Night website. The customizable web pages were reported to be functional and easy to use while there was an excellent response to the message boards and tracking thermometers. Credit card transactions increased from 30% to 80% which resulted in earlier cash flows and a reduction in direct banking. Additionally, team captains stated that the online tools made it easier than expected to raise funds and faster than imagined to reach the $1000 goal required to become a part of the Bright Light Club.
Artez exceeded the Leukaemia Foundations expectations by suggesting new fundraising ideas such as sponsor yourself and focus on fundraising. Light the Night was so successful, the event was run nationally in 2009 for the first time and continues to take place today. The foundation also uses Artez for their flagship event the World's Greatest Shave with similar spectacular results: nearly 50% of fundraising was online and the total raised in 2009 was over AU$12million.
