Philip King
President and CEO

A Fundraising Family
An earnest father, Philip King strives to pass on the spirit of philanthropy from one generation to the next.
In 2006, the Artez president and CEO enlisted his two young boys, Adam and Sam, to help fundraise for the construction of a borehole (well) in Ghana. "We travelled with other volunteers en masse to meet with the village elders, and the boys were just ecstatic," says Philip, adding that their next project in Ghana is to build a school.
Fundraising for a good cause is nothing new for the Harvard graduate, who spearheaded philanthropic initiatives in his previous role as the first-ever VP of e-business at United Way of Greater Toronto. At Artez, Philip is now working to "help non-profits leverage the power of social-network fundraising, which has been fuelled by the evolution of user-generated content systems" he says. Born and raised in Tennessee, Philip received his BA from Harvard and his MBA from the University of Toronto. He also serves as board member and treasurer of the ePhilanthropy Foundation in Washington DC.
